Sam Whiteman and Mitch Marsh shared a record-breaking 371-run stand as Australia 'A' zoomed past India A's first innings score, leading by 47 runs, on the third day of the four-day unofficial match in Brisbane.

Marsh blasted a double century, scoring 211 in 294 balls, while No. 8 batsman Whiteman smashed a 278-ball 174 in a scintillating run-fest. They combined to score 47 fours and 11 sixes to finish the day at 522 for nine at the Allan Border Field.

The partnership that came off 86.4 overs is the highest for the seventh-wicket by Australia in first-class cricket history, and the second-highest in any first-class match.

At stumps, tail-enders Cameroon Boyce (16) and Chadd Sayers (3) were at the crease.

Resuming at 126 for six, Marsh and Whiteman rescued the hosts with their scintillating partnership; the duo milked the Indian bowlers, scoring at more than four runs per over.

Part-timer spinner Karun Nair finally broke the partnership when he had Whiteman caught by Jasprit Bumrah, as Australia 'A' lost their first wicket of the day, slipping to 470 for seven.

Four overs later, pacer Bumrah was again in the thick of action as he cleaned up Ben Cutting.

Marsh, too, was sent packing at the fag end of the day, Robin Uthappa running him out in the 133rd over.

Bumrah was the pick of the India 'A' bowlers, finishing the day with figures of four for 128 off 39 overs.

Earlier, resuming at his overnight score of 18, Marsh started the day's proceedings with a couple of boundaries off Umesh Yadav, but it was Whiteman who was more dominating, racing away to his fifty with a four off Pragyan Ojha in the 62nd over.

Marsh also got into rhythm quickly, blasting a four and a six in the next two overs off Bumrah and Ojha respectively to reach his individual half-century.

Tiwary and Kulkarni then tried to tighten the screws as Australia 'A' took lunch at 250 for six.

Marsh dominated the post-lunch session, reaching his hundred with successive fours off Kulkarni in the 84th over.

Eight overs later, Whiteman also brought up his century with a boundary at square leg.

Once Whiteman was dismissed in the 125th over, Marsh stepped up and reached his double ton with a six off Ojha over mid-wicket.

He was the last man to be dismissed.
