Jhulan Goswami added another feather to her cap when she became the fourth bowler in the history of women's cricket to capture 100 ODI wickets, as India defeated Sri Lanka by eight wickets in a penultimate round match of the Asia Cup in Colombo on Thursday.

Jhulan completed the century of wickets in her 82nd ODI when she had Sri Lanka's last batter Deepika Rasangika caught by Asha Rawat on the second last delivery of home team's quota of 50 overs as Sri Lanka was restricted to 123-9.

Asha and captain Mithali Raj then put on 84 runs for the unbroken third wicket partnership as India achieved victory for the loss of two wickets in 26 overs.

Asha remained unbeaten on 56, which came off 71 balls and included eight fours and a six, while Mithali hit five fours in her 44-ball 36.

The day, however, belonged to Jhulan, who won the ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year award at the ICC Awards in Johannesburg, South Africa, in September last year.

She entered the tournament with 96 wickets against her name and came into this match requiring two wickets to join Neetu David as the second India bowler to achieve the rare feat.

She claimed the wicket of Chamari Polgampola with her eighth delivery of the match but then had to bowl 51 more deliveries to pick the elusive wicket.

Australia's Cathryn Fitzpatrick, who took 180 in her illustrious 14-year career, leads the list of most successful bowlers, followed by Neetu (135) and Clare Taylor of England (102).

Elsewhere, off-spinner Javeria Khan recorded stunning figures of 8.1-4-8-6 as Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 38 runs to end its 12-match losing streak in the history of this tournament.

Javeria got into action when Bangladesh reached 49-3 while chasing 111 for victory. The off-spinner proved almost unplayable as Bangladesh lost its last seven wickets for 23 runs, Javeria taking six, to be bowled out for 72.

Brief scores:

Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 38 runs

Pakistan 110 all out in 44.4 overs (Amanvia Javed 28; Panna Ghosh 3-28, Tithy Sarkar 3-29); Bangladesh 72 all out, 33.1 overs (Javeria Khan 6-8, Urooj Mumtaz 3-19).

India beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets

Sri Lanka 123-9 in 50 overs (Dilani Maodara 33, Dedunu Silva 28, Suwini de Alwis 22; Pujare Seema 3-35, Jhulan Goswami 2-25); India 124-2 in 26 overs (Asha Rawat 56 not out, Mithali Raj 36 not out).
