West Indian bowling great Michael Holding has advised Pakistan cricket coach Javed Miandad to curb his tendency to go overboard and become emotional when things are not going right for him or his team.

"The problem is that when things are not going right for him he tends to start blaming others and gets emotional," Holding said referring to Miandad's recent row with chief selector Aamir Sohail over team selection for the upcoming series against New Zealand.

"He has to learn to curb this tendency of his," he told a television channel.

Former England skipper Tony Greig, in the discussion, assessed how much of a difference Miandad could make to the side as the coach.

"The thing is that he expects his players to achieve what he has achieved. That does not happen. This leads to problems for him and we have seen this in the past. But he is a passionate character and knows cricket inside out," he said.

Speaking on countries pulling out of cricket series in Pakistan in the last two years on security ground, Holding called for a change in their attitude towards touring the Asian nations.

"I think Pakistan has had a rough time and I think cricket teams now need to change their attitude towards this whole issue of security and safety. They just have to be more careful themselves."
