Tendulkar ruled out of Irani Trophy match

Sachin Tendulkar [Images] has been ruled out of next week's Irani Trophy match after failing to fully recover from his elbow injury.

The master batsman, who was due to make a comeback for the Rest of India team against Ranji Trophy champions Delhi [Images] following an injury lay-off, underwent a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore on Friday and was advised more rest.

Tendulkar injured his left elbow during the Test series in Sri Lanka [Images] which also forced him to miss the preceding ODI series in the island nation.

The 35-year-old was told to rest for another week so that he can be fully fit for the first Test against Australia [Images] in Bangalore, beginning on October 9.

Anil Kumble [Images] will lead Rest of India against Delhi in the five-day tie, at Vadodara from September 24 to 28.
