Ishant fined for violating code of conduct

February 25, 2008 10:31 IST

India paceman Ishant Sharma on Monday was fined 15 per cent of his match fee for showing a "send-off finger" to Andrew Symonds [Images] after the Australian all-rounder was dismissed in the tri-series one-day international in Sydney on Sunday.

The Delhi speedster, who has seized the imagination of cricket fans, was charged under ICC [Images] Code of Conduct 1.6 rule violation which pertains to showing disrespect to opposition player or team on the field.

The 19-year-old was earlier fined for showing his disappointment when Symonds was not given out in a Test match on the same ground last month.
