An unbeaten knock of 104 runs by left-hander Rakesh Solanki helped Baroda post 262 for 3 in their first innings against Andhra in an Elite Group A Ranji Trophy match at the Motibaug ground in Baroda on Tuesday.

At close of third day's play, Baroda still needed 80 runs to surpass Andhra's first innings total of 342 runs.

The match at this stage is heading for a tame draw as tommorow is the last day.

Only interest left in the match is who will take first innings lead for securing two points and make their position stronger in the league table of the Group.

Resuming at 33 for no loss this morning, overnight pair of Connor Williams and Satyajit Parab could not do much as Connor was caught behind the wicket for 23 runs. Parab got out at the score of 45 when he was caught by B Sumanth off the bowling of K S Shahabuddin.

Captain Jacob Martin and Solanki took the total to 255 runs. They put on 167 runs for the third wicket partnership. They were at the crease for 252 minutes and faced 418 balls.

Martin made 78 runs with eight fours. Solanki made his first century of this Ranji season which was studded with 14 fours and a six.

Another not out batsman was Pinal Shah who was on the crease with a total of two runs.

All the three wickets that fell today were captured by fast bowlers.
