Dharmani century puts Punjab in command December 10, 2006 20:14 IST
A captain's knock of 144 by veteran Pankaj Dharmani enabled hosts Punjab post 353 in their first innings against Mumbai on the second day of Ranji Trophy Super League Group B match at the PCA stadium in Mohali on Sunday. Resuming 220 for six, Punjab relied on Dharmani's experience to post a respectable total. Dharmani, playing his 87th match, also became only the second Punjab batsman after Vikram Rathore to complete 6000 runs in first-class cricket. It was his 19th century. The wicketkeeper-batsman finally fell to pacer Swapnil Hazare, who was pick of Mumbai bowlers with a five-wicket haul. Mumbai's batsmen made a cautious start and were 21 without loss after facing 11 overs at close.
