Twenty-four people, including eight children, were killed on Thursday while 15 others injured when their truck overturned on the Sanand-Viramgam Highway in the district.
Congress worker and witness in the 2002 Naroda Patiya riot case, Nadeem Ahmed Sayed, was on Saturday stabbed to death by some unknown persons in Juhapura area in Ahmedabad, the police said.
At least sixteen persons were killed when a speeding truck ran over them on the Dolka-Bagodra highway near Ahmedabad on Thursday, said the police. The incident took place near Bejwa crossroad on the highway where a number of people on their way to the pilgrimage were sleeping on the roadside, they said. Sixteen persons have died on the spot while several others were injured, said the police, adding that the injured victims were admitted to the V S Hospital in Ahmedabad.
Mohammad Ayyub Mev was admitted to V S Hospital after he was thrashed by unidentified persons on S G Highway on the night of September 13.
Curfew has been clamped on Viramgam, around 70 km from Ahmedabad.
Bibi Bano, who witnessed the Naroda-Patiya massacre in 2002, is battling for life at the V S Hospital having sustained 55 per cent burns.
The blast occurred in the posh Nehrunagar locality.
Six were injured in the violence in Kalupur and Dariapur areas.
It occurred among some huts in Ektanagar area of the city.
