Afzal Guru had written a letter to his wife Tabassum hours before he was executed on Saturday morning in the high-security Tihar jail. "He penned a letter to his wife before he was taken to the gallows," a top official of the jail said.
In a new twist, a top officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Postal Department on Monday said that a letter from Delhi addressed to the wife of Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru, who was hanged on Saturday, was delivered this morning.
The gallows was merely 30 meters away from the 16 by 12 feet cell in Tihar Jail in which Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was lodged. Afzal was, at all times, surrounded by security guards as he was a high-profile prisoner.
