Ten Kashmiri students caught in a row over cheering for Pakistan cricket team have been expelled by a private university in Meerut after they were found guilty of misconduct and damaging property while suspension of 57 other Kashmiri students was revoked.
The filing of sedition charges against 67 Kashmiri students by Uttar Pradesh police -- which were subsequently dropped -- has evoked a strong reaction across the political and social spectrum in the Valley.
Zakir Ali Tyagi was charged under the Indian Penal Code's Section 420 (cheating) and Section 66 of the Information Technology Act (computer related offences).
