After being at the helm of Google India and Google Asia Pacific for over seven years, Shailesh Rao is now been roped in by micro-blogging service provider, Twitter.
Shailesh Rao has also served as a director for Google based at the company's headquarters in California and was instrumental in the launch of Google Maps and Google Earth globally.
According to Google India managing director Shailesh Rao, the company is exiting 2009 with a positive outlook.
Unlike the US or Europe, which were fully satiated mass media markets when the Web happened in 1995, India has just begun discovering the joys of private television, radio and lots of newspapers.
Internet search giant Google on Thursday said it will be "happy to help" India in implementing a project to provide unique identity numbers to citizens, if asked.
World's leading search engine Google sees India becoming one of the 10 most 'impactful markets' in the next 3-5 years and is planning to hire locally to drive its brand advertising stream of business.
It already works with Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, online shopping giant Alibaba Group , white goods producer Qingdao Haier and flag carrier Air China to target customers abroad.
