Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh police in coordination with forest guards of the Jim Corbett National Park have arrested two key aides of notorious poacher of wild life animal skin Sansar Chand and four others who had been having gala time in the national park for the last few years.
Notorious poacher Sansar Chand was sentenced to six years jail by a Delhi court on Wednesday, in a case relating to seizure of a leopard skin in 1995, saying such offence should be dealt with "iron hands".
Notorious poacher and wildlife trader Sansar Chand may be in or out of jail, but his illegal trade in tiger and leopard skins and body parts continues to thrive, with his family members and dozens of aides doubling up to fill the vacuum, after the Supreme Court let him out on bail in August.
Under the instructions of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the CBI had probed the disappearance of tigers from Sariska, which revealed that Chand was the man primarily responsible.\n
