A 1984 anti-Sikh riots victim alleged before a Delhi court that the Central Bureau of Investigation had discredited the witnesses in the case in order to "shield" former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler."The CBI failed once again. Whatever they did, it was only to shield the accused. Instead of protecting the witnesses, they started with the premise that they were not reliable," advocate Rebecca M John told Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rakesh Pandit.

Delhi HC stays narco-test on Maoist leader Ghandy

The Delhi High Court on Thursday restrained the city police from conducting a narco-analysis test on top Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy. Justice Indermeet Kaur stayed the trial court's order, which had on October 31 allowed the police to conduct the test on the 63-year-old Maoist leader. The court passed the order after Ghandy's counsel submitted that the test can't be conducted until and unless the Constitutional validity of the narco-test is decided.
