A review of a very crucial verdict concerning rape and murder is being sought before the Supreme Court. Senior Advocate, Pramila Nesargi will petition the Chief Justice of India seeking a review of the Rameshbhai Chandubhai Rathod vs State Of Gujarat verdict, in which there were concurrent views on death sentence and finally a lifer was handed out after the matter was referred to a larger bench of the court. A 39-year-old man working with the French consulate in Bengaluru has been detained by the police for allegedly raping his three-year-old girl. The detention was made based on a complaint that was lodged by the man's wife before the High Grounds police in Bengaluru on Friday.
Pramila Nesargi, senior advocate and former chairperson of the State Women's Commission, terms the attacks as 'horrific', but feels that the issue is being blown out of proportion. In an interview with rediff.com, Nesargi stated that the law should be allowed to take its own course in this case.
