A case pending with the Mumbai customs on Saturday stalled the release of Peter Bleach, who is serving a life sentence at the Alipore Central Jail in Kolkata for his role in the sensational Purulia armsdrop.

A British spy turned arms dealer has told a Copenhagen court that Danish national Kim Davy alias Neils Holck, the prime accused in the 1995 Purulia arms drop case, would not survive if he is extradited and forced to stand trial in India. Giving evidence in the extradition hearing of Davy, Peter Bleach, who was arrested over the incident, told the court how he was beaten and humiliated while serving a life sentence in India. Bleach was released in February 2004.
The Briton is serving a life term in a Kolkata prison for dropping crates of missiles, rifles and rocket launchers in Purulia district of West Bengal on the night of December 17, 1995.
The Briton had allegedly assaulted fellow convict Kamal Routh in Presidency Jail in Kolkata about a year back.
An unidentified aircraft caused a security scare in Mumbai airspace on Saturday after it was spotted by an Etihad Airways flight and reported to the air traffic control, official sources said.
