Ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Washington in November, National Security Adviser M K Narayanan discussed with his US counterpart General James Jones the preparations for the Indian leader's trip and other issues of mutual interest.
Former National Security Advisor M K Narayanan on Wednesday said that he played no role in the controversial Rs 3,600 crore VVIP AgustaWestland chopper deal.
He said the tragic incident, however, would not dampen Indo-Afghan relations
Speaking about the character of the jihadi activity from Pakistan, Narayanan said it tends to go up and down but added that "we don't mind the flip-flop".
Despite optimism that the deal will be sealed, differences marred talks between the two sides.
National Security Adviser M K Narayanan and Prime Minister's Principal Secretary T K A Nair have been asked to 'continue' in office till further orders, sources in the Prime Minister's Office said on Tuesday. The decision has been taken apparently to ensure continuity and speedy implementation of the United Progressive Alliance government's flagship programmes. The sources said that last week, Manmohan Singh asked Narayanan and Nair to continue in their posts.
National Security Advisor M K Narayanan cautioned in a television interview that media 'hype' could lead to 'unwarranted incident or accident' that could create problems with the neighbour, which should be avoided.
