The former principal of a Montessori school in Manhattan, who claimed she had consensual sex with a student at her school only when he had reached the age of consent, has appealed against her conviction.
A 46-year-old Indian-American ex-headmistress of a Manhattan prep school, sentenced to two-to-seven years in prison for bedding one of her students in 2007, has surrendered after all her appeals exhausted.
Justice Carol Berkman of the State Supreme Court who apparently agreed with the prosecution's description of Sinha, said that Sinha's privileged background did make "all the more culpable."
