Pakistan has said that Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industries, which cancelled Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale's public engagement at the last minute, is an independent body, a day after India summoned Pakistani envoy to lodge a strong protest over the incident.
Pakistan should fully implement the roadmap for normalising economic cooperation with India, including granting it the Most Favoured Nation-status, Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal has said.
In yet another confidence building measure, a business delegation led by Siraj Kassam Teli, president, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry met Commerce and Industry Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Karachi Chamber of Commerce cancelled an event of Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Gautam Bambawale at the last minute, apparently over his remarks on Pakistan's interference in Kashmir.
According to Bambawale, even while tensions were high between the two nations, there had been contacts at the operational level.
