An under-trial prisoner escaped from Kalahandi district jail in Odisha by scaling a 20-foot wall. An investigation is underway, and a search operation has been launched to recapture the escapee.
The remarks by the BJP leaders came as 17 opposition parties resolved to fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections unitedly to defeat the saffron party and work with flexibility by setting aside their differences. They dubbed the planned alliance as "unholy and opportunistic".
Five of those caught in the cross fire died on the spot, while another person succumbed to injuries later, Kandamal superintendent of police Pinak Mishra told media persons.
