Admitting a public interest litigation filed by separatist group Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front on the 17 civilian killings during last year's summer unrest in Kashmir Valley, the Jammu and Kashmir high court on Monday issued a notice to the state government, directing it to submit a report within two weeks.
The Jammu and Kashmir high court has quashed the detention of the ailing chairman of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani under the Public Safety Act and has ordered his release.
A single bench comprising Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain quashing the detention of Abdul Rashid said the order of the detention was not sustainable. Release the detenue forthwith if he is not involved in any other case, the court directed the state government.
