The Global Mobile Suppliers Association on Monday rejected Telcom Regulatory Authority of India's proposal to allocate frequencies in the controversial US PCS band (1850-1910 MHz paired with 1930-1990 MHz) to the existing Code-Division Multiple Acces
India is expected to have 100 million GSM (global system for mobile communications) customers by 2007-08 compared to 26 million subscribers as on March 2004, according to the Global Mobile Suppliers Association.
The merits and demerits of the telcos' 5G strategy however is clearly dependent on the financial muscle of players, reports Surajeet Das Gupta.
