The Prime Minister's global advisory council has been constituted. The setting up of the council was announced by the Prime Minister at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Chennai.
The Centre will set up a Global Advisory Council for Persons of Indian Origin.
Other panelists of the 23-member council includes external affairs minister S M Krishna, City group CEO Vikram Pandit, NRI entrepreneur Karan Bilimoria, economist Jagdish Bhagwati, educationist Sam Pitroda.
The sixth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas was inagurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday. The prime minister announced that the government will set up a Global Advisory Council for Persons of Indian Origin. He said the council would comprise persons of Indian origin from all walks of life across the globe.
