Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray has urged Union agriculture minister and Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar to resign from the Union cabinet and come to Maharashtra to protect the interest of farmers reeling under drought.
A farmer who committed suicide in Yavatmal district has left behind a note in which he purportedly asked people not to vote for the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra as the ruling alliance partners don't "care" for farmers.
As many as 17 farmers have allegedly committed suicide in the agrarian crisis-hit Vidarbha region of Maharashtra in the last five days, a non-government organisation working for their cause claimed on Monday.
