Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a two-day state visit to Bangladesh from June 6 to further bolster bilateral ties, the foreign ministry in Dhaka said on Tuesday.
Sushma Swaraj arrived in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Wednesday night on her first official visit abroad after becoming External Affairs Minister during which she will hold talks with the top leadership on key bilateral issues including land boundary agreement, proposed Teesta river pact and illegal immigration.
India will raise the issue of illegal immigration, a "major cause of concern" for the country. Nayanima Basu reports
An "all-party" interim government headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was installed in Bangladesh on Monday to oversee the upcoming general elections despite boycott by the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party which termed the move as "farce", heightening tension in the country.
