The bureau said there was 'concrete' threat of attacks on Chabad centres and synagogues throughout India, including Goa, as well as on sites frequented by Israelis and Westerners.
Israel has warned that Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba, which carried out the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, is planning "imminent" terror strikes across India especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
Israel has warned its nationals against traveling to Goa during the next two weeks, saying that the tourist hotspot is a potential terror target during the New Year celebrations."The Goa region is a potentially tempting target for terror groups, particularly leading up to the New Year celebrations," Israel's Counter-Terrorism Bureau said in a statement.Over 40,000 Israelis visit India every year and Goa is one of the most favoured destination for them.
The warning by the Counter-Terrorism Bureau at the National Security Council regarding attacks on Israelis in India comes at a time when all terror groups have decided that targeting an Israeli would be the only way to get the better of the United States of America.
"The law will define what kind of activities are terrorist activities and measures to be taken in fighting terrorist activities," deputy director of the counter-terrorism bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, Zhao Yongchen said.
