Unidentified men attacked some pilgrims sleeping outside the famous Siddhivinayak temple in central Mumbai late on Monday night.No arrests have been made in connection with the case so far, said the police.Some TV channels, which showed clippings of the attackers beating up the pilgrims, claimed that the attack was carried out by members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. However, MNS leader Atul Sarpotdar denied his party's role in the incident.
Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, whose members assaulted Samajwadi Party legislator Abu Asim Azmi in the Maharashtra assembly, on Wednesday said they would apologise to the House for their action but not to the Member of Legislative assembly."We will apologise in the assembly as it was not our intention to malign the image of the House. However, there is no question of apologising to Azmi," MNS leader Atul Sarpotdar said.
