The runoff election will be held on November 7
Amid criticism that the decision of the Afghan Election Commission on the Presidential polls was not legal, the United States on Wednesday said it considers Hamid Karzai as the 'legitimately elected' president of the war-torn country.
The election seem to have been conducted without any major security lapses. However, in the coming weeks, the military situation in Kandahar could tilt in the Taliban's favour, notes Aveek Sen.
