Biotech firm Biocon India on Friday reported net profits of Rs 138.63 crore (Rs 1.39 billion) for the year 2003-04, a growth of 219 per cent over Rs 43.51 crore (Rs 435.1 million) recorded for the previous fiscal.
On the Sensex chart, Titan, SBI, L&T, IndusInd Bank, Ultratech Cement, HDFC Bank and Asian Paints were top gainers. Sensex settled up by 380.21 points at its all-time closing high of 47,353.75. The NSE Nifty ended 123.95 points at 13,873.20.
Total income rose to Rs 19,322.63 crore during the quarter under review, was up 17.08 as against Rs 16,502.97 crore.
Foreign exchange reserves climbed further by $ 402 million to a new record high of $109.998 billion during the week ended March 19 from $109.596 billion a week ago.
