A sitting MLA and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate allegedly broke an electronic voting machine (EVM) and attacked a polling officer inside a booth during voting in Odisha which recorded a voter turnout of over 60.97 per cent in six Lok Sabha seats and 42 assembly segments, officials said.
BJD managed to retain 112 seats securing another term for Patnaik in the CM chair.
Patnaik, won his his home turf Hinjili by over 60,000 votes, while he was leading from Bijepur till early on Friday morning.
The Naveen Patnaik-led party bagged 112 of the 146 assembly seats despite the Modi wave in the country.
