Mayor Beverly Whaling of Clay in West Virginia has resigned after she came under fire for approvingly commenting on a racist Facebook post calling United States First Lady Michelle Obama 'an ape in heels'.
Joel Husk, a Trump supporter, was terminated for the controversial post saying Michelle Obama is 'fluent in ghetto'.
"Knowing that after eight years of working really hard for this country, there are still people who won't see me for what I am because of my skin colour," she said.
