A Pakistani provincial legislator and three of his bodyguards were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Karachi on Thursday.
Eleven people died in sectarian violence in Pakistan's largest city today, taking the overall death toll in two days to 18 as unrest spiralled out of control on the eve of the Islamic holy month of Muharram.
The worst affected area was again the city's hottest flashpoint, Orangi Town where violence was reported on Tuesday from several localities in which 11 people were shot dead and dozens sustained gun shot injuries.
At least 31 people, including members of the minority Shia community, have been killed in various incidents of target killings in Pakistan's commercial city of Karachi and Balochistan's capital Quetta.
No one has taken responsibility for the attack.
