In a significant order, the Supreme Court on Monday rejected pleas of state governments and minority institutions to allow them to hold separate entrance exams for MBBS and BDS courses.
It also dismissed the plea for centralised counselling of successful candidates of various entrance tests, saying "50 per cent states have conducted their tests."
The first phase of the single entrance test National Eligibility Entrance Test for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses across the country will be held on May 1 .
