Six policemen, including a senior officer, were killed and nearly a dozen others injured when a large group of Taliban militants stormed a police check-post on the outskirts of Peshawar city in northwest Pakistan, officials said on Monday. Superintendent of Police Khurshid Khan was among the policemen killed when militants targeted the check post at Mattani, a suburb of Peshawar, at about 10 pm on Sunday.

Four persons were killed and three others injured on Thursday when members of an anti-Taliban militia were targeted with a roadside bomb on the outskirts of Peshawar in northwest Pakistan.The bomb was triggered by remote control as a vehicle with several members of the anti-Taliban militia was passing through Mattani area outside Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. At least 34 people were killed and more than 50 injured when a suicide bomber targeted members of an anti-Taliban militia who were attending a funeral in Pakistan's restive northwest region on Wednesday. The bomber targeted the funeral prayers of the wife of Hakeem Khan, a leader of the 'peace committee' or anti-Taliban militia of Adezai, a tribal area near Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
