Astronomers have discovered a batch of three 'super-Earths' orbiting a nearby star, and two other solar systems with small planets as well, which suggests that Earth-like planets may be very common.
Astronomers have discovered a new intriguing exoplanet about the mass of the earth, orbiting a star in the Alpha Centauri star system -- the nearest to our planet.
The researchers, led by Matias Jones of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, used the 1.5 m telescope at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory and the 2.2 m telescope at La Silla observatory in Chile, and the 3.9 m Anglo-Australian telescope in Australia.
