A Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said Rajkhowa "shall cease to hold the office of the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh".
Sources said Rajkhowa's dismissal may come as early as Thursday evening when the two-day special session of the Arunachal Pradesh assembly, which has been convened to ratify the goods and services tax, gets over.
The ministry of Home Affairs, in the affidavit, said Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and Speaker Nabam Rebia have been playing communal politics against the Governor, who in his reports had recommended imposition of President's Rule in the state by elaborating the sequence of events leading the Congress government becoming a minority.
It was unthinkable that the probe was handed over to police and not the CBI, Rajkhowa said.
