68-year-old Goswami was brought to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital late Saturday night after she complained of respiratory problems and was immediately put on ventilation, senior doctor of medicine department Debabrata Goswami said.
Assamese litterateur Indira Raisom Goswami, who had taken the initiative to bring the United Liberation Front of Asom to the negotiating table, on Tuesday passed away at a hospital in Guwahati after a prolonged illness. The condition of 69-year-old Goswami, who suffered a cerebral stroke in February, turned critical on Monday night and she was declared dead at 7:45 am, Guwahati Medical College Hospital Superintendent R Talukdar said.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said, "There is a very minor improvement in her condition. Specialists from AIIMS and GMCH are monitoring her condition".
Doctors attending on her said she was in the intensive care unit and was now stable.
