Even as German airport developer Fraport AG is shutting its operations in India, deciding to sell its small stake in the Delhi airport, its competitor in Europe, Zurich Airport, is bullish on Asia's third-largest economy. The company is eying investments in the greenfield international airport projects at Navi Mumbai and Goa.
Delhi International Airport, a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure, will absorb all general employees of Airports Authority of India, working at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. There are over 2,300 general employees of AAI.
Trade union leader M K Pandhe says the Airport Authority of India can build better airports than private companies.
From a dismal Airport Service Quality ranking of 101 in 2006, it topped the list in 2016.
