Domestic bourse BSE has approved the acquisition of a 50 per cent stake in index provider Asia Index (AIPL) from equal joint venture partner S&P Dow Jones (SPDJ) Indices for Rs 30 crore. Rising outgo towards clearing and settlement fees has led to an altercation between the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), with the latter striking down the former's request to lower the charges. NSE said it has no plans to restructure the same and that it will continue with the pricing defined under the interoperability framework. Infosys on Wednesday reported an 8.7 per cent increase in consolidated net profit in the June quarter to Rs 6,921 crore, as India's second-largest IT services firm forecast a 1-3 per cent revenue growth for the full FY26. The Bengaluru-headquartered firm had logged a net profit (attributable to owners of the company) of Rs 6,368 crore in the year-ago period, according to a regulatory filing.

BSE on Monday relaunched Sensex and Bankex derivative contracts in its bid to boost derivative trading at the country's premier bourse. The relaunch of derivative contracts comes with a reduced lot size of futures and options and a new expiry cycle of Friday from Thursday earlier, BSE said. Research and development (R&D) spending by BSE 100 companies has grown steadily, rising from 0.89 per cent of revenue in FY20 to 1.32 per cent in FY24, averaging around 1 per cent over the period in-between, according to data compiled from Bloomberg and company annual reports. Also, these companies more than doubled their R&D spending in absolute terms over these five years: From Rs 25,041 crore to Rs 63,072 crore. While this reflects a prioritisation of innovation, corporate R&D investment remains relatively conservative.
