As it eyes $2 billion sales in India by 2008, Samsung said on Thursday it will set up a second plant in the country which would cater to the burgeoning demand in the market.
South Korea's Samsung Electronics on Wednesday announced commissioning of its refrigerator manufacturing plant in India and said it will achieve a 13 per cent market share by selling 400,000 refrigerators this year.
Samsung is targetting a sales turnover of Rs 5,273 crore in India in 2004, up by 42 per cent, and announced the launch of several consumer electronic products in the country to strengthen its digital products portfolio.
Samsung India was targeting a turnover growth of about 80 per cent to cross Rs 5,000 crore (Rs 50 billion) during 2003, while aiming to consolidate its position in the consumer electronics market through new product launches.
Samsung India Electronics Limited on Tuesday said it expects the contribution of Flat TVs in total television sales to grow to 50 per cent by the end of this year.
Indian market is very important for Samsung.
