Bharatiya Janata Party would lay the foundation of next National Democratic Alliance government at the centre by performing better in Uttar Pradesh in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, said Amit Shah, as he on Wednesday took over as party's in-charge in the state.
A decision on the next chief minister in Assam is yet to be taken though two days have passed since the Bharatiya Janata Party-led alliance won the assembly election and the state chief of the saffron party said on Tuesday that either incumbent Sarbananda Sonowal or senior minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will head the next government.
"The majority is very thin and anything can happen. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's party -- JD-U finished third and if anyone is celebrating the win, it's a joke. The BJP has done well, for which it had to do a lot of political strategising," he said.
