An Indian couple, who have been caught in a legal battle in the United States over the custody of their one-year-old son, have been granted permission by a New Jersey court to meet the child once a week, with the next hearing in the case scheduled for November 1. Debashish Saha, 28, and Pamela Saha, 25, were denied custody of their son Indrashish after he sustained serious head injuries at his home in August.

Lokesh Ojha of Rutgers University took the stand in the trial of 20-year-old Ravi at a New Jersey court. Ravi has been accused of spying on his roommate Tyler Clementi, who committed suicide days later.Ojha described how he had helped Ravi adjust his webcam.

On Tuesday, a judge in the US denied a request by Aakash Dalal's attorney to have his trial sent to another district and conducted under a different judge since the adverse publicity the case had gathered in the present court area in the Bergen county of New Jersey. Arthur J Pais reports.
