"The figure is very alarming... in the last one-and-half months, 124 farmers have killed themselves. We would like to know from the government what steps are being taken to stop this," said Justice Naresh Patil heading a division bench.
The Bombay high court on Wednesday said that it was sad to find that several newborn children were among those who died during the week-long strike by doctors in the state last month.
The bench, headed by Justice Patil, however, allowed a significant leeway for the developers in the judgment by permitting the state-level RERA Authority and the Appellate Tribunal to consider delays on a case-to-case basis, and not to cancel such projects or developers' registration in cases where the delay was caused due to "exceptional and compelling circumstances."
Close on the heels of the release of actor Sanjay Dutt on parole to take care of his ailing wife, a similar relief has been extended to another 1993 bomb blast accused on the same ground.
