Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has been sentenced to 5 years in jail following his conviction in the multi-crore fodder scam by the special Central Bureau of Investigation court.
The counsel for Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav Monday informed the court of Special Central Bureau of Investigation judge Pravas Kumar Singh that arguments on behalf of his client be stopped till the high court, before which transfer of a fodder case has been sought to some other special court, gave an order.
This was the 39th of the total 53 fodder cases which ended in convictions.
Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, who was sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs five lakh in a 17-year-old fodder scam case, on Thursday claimed that he was falsely implicated.
A Central Bureau of Investigation court in Ranchi will pronounce its judgement on Monday in the multi-crore fodder scam, in which Rashtriya Janata Party chief Lalu Prasad, if convicted, will face immediate disqualification as a Lok Sabha member.
The petitions of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to transfer one of his fodder scam cases to another special Central Bureau of Investigation court from the present court of Pravas Kumar Singh and examining one more witness were dismissed by the Jharkhand high court on Monday.
