The FIIs' stake in Reliance Industries has increased from 20.22 per cent at the end of the March 2007 quarter to 20.85 per cent at the end of the June 2007 quarter, according to the BSE's shareholding pattern data.
Till October 14 this year, FIIs were net sellers in equities at Rs 1,132 crore (Rs 11.32 billion) while their debt exposure stood at Rs 20,029 crore (Rs 200.29 billion). This is the first time since 2008 that FIIs are net sellers in equities.
Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed marginally lower on Friday as investors booked profit in FMCG, IT and healthcare stocks after the BSE Sensex and Nifty hit fresh lifetime highs in intra-day deals. The 30-share BSE Sensex dipped 7.65 points or 0.01 per cent to settle at 75,410.39. During the day, it rallied 218.46 points or 0.28 per cent to hit its all-time intra-day high of 75,636.50.
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs), bearish till recently on the Indian equity market, seem to be having a change of heart.
Of the 16 FMCG firms, 12 companies saw an increase in their respective foreign institutional investors holding in three months ended September 2013 over the year-ago period, while the remaining four witnessed a decline in FIIs stake, according to a report by A C Choksi Share Brokers.

Market regulator SEBI on Tuesday relaxed the reporting requirement on lending of securities by FIIs for the purpose of short selling.

Taiwan-based Hon Hai Technology Group, the subsidiary of Foxconn Industrial Internet (Fii), is in talks with the Tamil Nadu government to invest around $200 million to set up an electronic components unit in the state. According to a Reuters report, FII, which makes communication, mobile network and cloud computing equipment, has shared the plan with the Tamil Nadu state officials. Business Standard had reported last week that Fii's chief executive officer (CEO) Brand Cheng met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce TRB Rajaa.

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty declined nearly 1 per cent on Wednesday, falling for the fourth day running amid profit-taking by cautious investors ahead of the results of the Lok Sabha polls. The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 667.55 points or 0.89 per cent to settle at 74,502.90. It went below the 75,000 mark to hit the day's low of 74,454.55, plunging 715.9 points or 0.95 per cent.
