Under the new rules, Karnataka has mandated ride hailing start-ups to provide digital printers, install panic buttons and have taxi signage on their vehicles.
The state governments of Karnataka and Maharashtra have also moved to exert more control on app-based taxi aggregators.
Ola and Uber have committed to spending Rs 15,000 cr to win the taxi market.
