The Chhattisgarh High Court has discharged a 37-year-old man in a rape case filed against him by his wife after observing that sexual intercourse or any sexual act with a legally wedded wife is not rape even if done by force or against her wish.
The Chhattisgarh High Court on Thursday sought a detailed report, to be tabled within the next ten days, from the state government on the botched sterilisation surgeries in Bilaspur district, after it took suo motu cognisance of the incident, which left 11 women dead and many critical.
The Chhattisgarh high court on June 11 had passed two separate orders and granted interim reliefs in the same FIR lodged against Singh and Patra while noting that averments in the FIR reflected that 'by the tweets, Congressmen are aggravated which clearly indicates that no public peace or tranquillity is being adversely affected and it is purely political rivalry between two political parties'.
The surgeon, who conducted sterilisation surgeries on 83 women at a state-run camp which claimed the lives of 12 women in Pendari village in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district, has been arrested.
The apex court's five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said Aadhaar is meant to help benefits reach the marginalised sections of the society and takes into account the dignity of people not only from personal but also from community point of view.
