The Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd, India's oldest stock exchange launched mobile-based trading on Monday through its 33 leading brokers, a senior Exchange official said.
HDFC Bank Chairman Jagdish Capoor has been appointed as the chairman of the Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd, which has recently turned into a corporate entity.
Several markets, including the foreign exchange and all the commodity markets will remain closed on Thursday, March 30, on account of Gudi Padwa.
"We will complete the transformation within May 2007 and are talking to select foreign exchanges for a possible partnership," Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd managing director and CEO Rajnikant Patel said.

The scrip of Sasken Communications, a telecom research and development company, on Friday opened at Rs 400 per share at a premium to the issue price of Rs 260 at listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd.
The scrip of K K Birla controlled HT Media Ltd on Wednesday opened at Rs 685 per share at a premium to the issue price of Rs 530 at listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd.
