'How can we tolerate such high-handedness?'
The Kerala high court on Friday granted bail to senior politician PC George in a hate speech case registered in Thiruvananthapuram.
The magisterial court had on Wednesday cancelled the bail granted to George after the police alleged that the veteran politician, released on bail earlier on May 1 after being arrested for making a hate speech against Muslims in the State on April 29, violated the bail conditions.
The senior politician's arrest was formally recorded after he was brought to Thiruvananthapuram via road from his residence and thereafter, he was produced before a duty magistrate who granted him bail.
Soon after the court pronounced the judgment on George's bail plea, police reached the former MLA's residence to take him into custody, but he was not traceable.
Considering the anticipatory bail plea moved by George, the high court granted him interim relief with conditions.
The police, in its plea, had contended that the veteran politician violated the bail conditions and, therefore, the bail was liable to be cancelled.
'This obsession with 'one' is not good for a country like India.'
