Somdev in US Challenger final

November 08, 2008 13:49 IST

Somdev Devvarman extended his sizzling run in the US $75,000 ATP Challenger in Nashville by advancing to the final after a stunning victory over second seed and local favourite Bobby Reynolds.

The unseeded Indian Davis Cupper upset world No 86 Reynolds 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the semi-finals of the hardcourt event.

The victory was Somdev's second over Reynolds in as many meetings. He had beaten him in the pre-quarter-finals of the Challenger event in Lexington, US, earlier.

Somdev will take on American fourth seed and world No 91 Robert Kendrick in the final.

It was a good day for Indian players, as unseeded pair of Harsh

Mankad and Ashutosh Singh also made it to the summit clash.

They beat the American pair of Scott Oudsema and Tim Smyczek 6-2, 2-6, 10-6 in the semi-finals.

They will meet the American-Australian pair of Carsten Ball and Travis Rettenmaier in the final.
