The draw for 2014 FIFA World Cup, which will be played from June 12 to July 13, was held in Costa do Sauípe near Salvador, Brazil on Friday.

The event opened with a tribute to Nelson Mandela, who passed away early Friday at the age of 95.

Grammy award-winning Latin American singer Vanessa da Mata perfomed with local flavour Alexandre Pires do Nascimento. 

Ronaldo, the original one, and, the highest goal-scorer in FIFA World Cup history, also graced the event.

Alcione, Brazil’s popular Samba artist (right) and the evening’s MC and Brazil’s latest hip-hop sensation Emicida break into a jig on stage.
